FDA Warns Of Herbal Tea Danger

The FDA says the unsafe herb might be dangerous to blood sugar, reproductive, cardiovascular and renal systems. In a letter to the makers of the popular Celestial Seasonings-brand products, FDA officials say the South American herb stevia is an unsafe food additive. Stevia is several hundred times sweeter than sugar but with no calories, is approved as a dietary supplement, but not as a food additive in the U.S. The herb is being eyed by several big beverage companies that are looking for new low-calorie sweeteners. Innsider Florida: Sebring resort

Sebring sprouted up around Lake Jackson in the early 1900s, but it's little Lake Sebring that captures my fancy.

The 500-acre puddle, home to bass and crappie, is a popular playground for water and Jet skiers. More alluring to me, though, is the Sebring Lakeside Golf Resort & Tea Room, which can be found on its shores.

A handsome, 1926 Spanish Mission-style complex, Sebring Lakeside attracts golfers, who can play the 9-hole, par-3 course for free if they spend the night.

Owner Mark Baker tends bar and schedules tee times, while his wife, Maria, manages ``tea''-times, a popular Monday through Saturday offering in the Tea Room.

Besides soups, salads, finger sandwiches, quiche, desserts and tea, guests have a postcard-pretty view of the lake and the red pier extending across the water.
